Walpole Old Chapel to Net Zero

WALPOLE OLD CHAPEL

We decided at The Chapel to make attaining certified carbon net zero status the main plank of our environmental policy. We collected all our activity data in relation to inputs, on-site and outputs/waste. Groundwork East then produced a carbon footprint report for us, with recommendations for potential carbon reduction actions we could take. However, that still left us with a CO2 footprint of around 4 tonnes per year. We are now choosing which offsetting option to follow. My favourite is to use The World Land Trust, because of the Halesworth connection, but there are plenty of others.

We will have accomplished this within 12 months, so my message to others would be not to be put off by the jargon or the expensive quotes from consultancies wanting to hold your hand throughout the journey. It’s really not that difficult and need not be too expensive for many small buildings or organisations. Please feel free to contact me if you’d like to find out more.
