Totoro – Green Films at the Cut – May 10

As a continuation of the Halesworth ASH green films screenings at The Cut, we’re arranging a film for children and families as well as others, an anime from the Japanese Studio Ghibli called My Neighbour Totoro.

The film explores the importance of nature to our lives and well-being, as experienced through the lives of two children.  We’ve involved Beth her her two drama groups, Halesworth Harmony choir (Janet is planning a song in Japanese about fireflies), among other schemes up our sleeves – more details later.

Having burst through the 1.5 degree temperature increase the world was hoping to keep within, the Halesworth ASH team all feel strongly that we need to be doing more than just showing engaging films: we are talking to the Millennium Green team about doing some work with nature the next day on the Millennium Green, and really getting kids and families involved with nature and feeling they can do something positive to make a difference.

Thanks to the team at The Cut, for their support for the Halesworth ASH events; they’ve all been hugely successful and helped to build some cohesion and engagement with the local community around environmental issues.
