Halesworth Climate Action Weekend was about Halesworth’s energy future.
The Friday panel inspired us: appreciating what had been achieved, we heard about the possibility of Community Energy from Charsfield and Framsden.
Saturday was practical for a good reason: Halesworth now has its BASELINE STUDY to work from – to see where we can efficiently support our community to to migrate to renewable energy systems. Having this information means we can can plan our pathway towards net zero.
We had diversity on the land and among the people. With over 60 attending, and a whole day’s immersion, there was a time for connecting and conversations as well as listening and learning.
Having invited all local parish councils, it was heartening to see half a dozen Councillors attended, along with farmers and land owners.
My Neighbour Totoro was a new screening in our popular series of ‘Green Films’, (last year’s events sold-out at The Cut). This time the focus was on children and families.
It was a huge success, from the Exhibition on for a week before, via the full house for Wilding at the Cut, to the animated Farming Maze Panel on Friday led by Josiah Meldrum. Saturday was the joy of clusters as we heard from joined up projects addressing the climate crisis in our landscape.
Over 120 attended the Panel and an estimated 110 the Conference the next day. Representatives from over 5 different town councils/organisations attended, keen to emulate the conference in their towns/villages.
Live Recording of the PANEL is here, thanks to Jason Busby Church Warden) who was very helpful throughout this conference.
Sold out! It was a full house at the Cut, inspiring that there was an appetite for this films message. Thank to Kim and Nick for organising, and Aafka at the Cut for embracing and the Kitchen Band for playing. Report and photographs
Welcome to add to feedback from the conference, here are some useful views sent to us via email but we’ll be sending out a survey soon.
